P Work Visas
Qualifying for a P Visa
P-1 Visas are given to persons who perform as an athletes or who performs with or are an integral part of an entertainment group. P-2 visas are given to individuals who perform as artists or entertainers either as part of a group or individually and are entering the U.S. to perform under a reciprocal exchange program between an organization or organizations in the U.S. and one or more foreign organizations. A P-3 visa governs the entry of performers and integral members of the team who need to enter to perform, teach or coach in a culturally unique program.
How Long will it Take to Process a P Visa?
In order to apply for a P visa to the U.S., a petition must be filed by a U.S. employer, sponsor, established agent, or foreign employer through a US agent. In some instances, petitions may be filed by the U.S. union involved in the exchange program. Petitions can take a substantial amount of time to process, but “premium processing” services are available for additional fee. Upon receipt of the approved petition, a Canadian can apply for entry directly at the port of entry. All other nationals will be required to apply for a visa at a US visa post prior to entry.
