IT Worker (Software Professional) Work Permits

Pursuant to the Information Technology Workers Pilot Project (also known as the Software Pilot Program), the government has exempted Canadian employers from seeking the requisite LMO for IT specialists in seven designated occupations. Applications for temporary work permits for employees meeting the requirements of any of these seven occupations are processed very quickly by the Canadian Visa Offices outside of Canada.
Do You Qualify?
The simplified entry process for information technology (IT) specialists, which permitted the entry of these professionals without a Labour Market Opinion, ended September 30, 2010. As of October 1, 2010, all employers who wish to hire foreign workers who were previously eligible under the simplified entry process, will be required to secure a Labour Market Opinion.
